At Proto, Colby leads development and constant improvement of all the enablement functions of the business: Operations, Finance, Talent, and Engagement. As a talent business, he focuses on finding, nurturing, and retaining world-class employees so Proto can best serve its clients who bring their toughest growth challenges. He loves building things from scratch and ensuring that Proto’s operations are a strong foundation for growth. Prior to founding Proto, Colby led global operations for R/GA’s Business Transformation team. In this role, Colby focused on scaling the practice across seven offices to deliver innovative solutions for both Fortune 500 clients and high growth category disruptors. While building this team, Colby oversaw and ran production, talent acquisition, talent management, finance, corporate communications and new business teams. The Business Transformation business was the fastest growing and most profitable part of R/GA over this time, with an exceptionally high employee retention rate, three things he has great pride in. Before R/GA, Colby leveraged his passion for innovation by leading MakerBot's global marketing team, helping to evangelize 3D printing to educators, professionals, and consumers. He led all brand initiatives, launched multiple hardware and software products, and built performance and channel marketing teams. Colby originally joined R/GA in 2011 and worked on a variety of financial services, technology, and consumer accounts such as Goldman Sachs, Intel, Samsung, Nike, and MakerBot. He started his career in finance as an analyst at a hedge fund. Colby is a graduate of Hamilton College with a B.A. in Economics. In his spare time, Colby is a board member for a non-profit called DEEP (Deepwater Experiential Education Project), which provides funding for young people from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds to participate in wilderness education programs. He loves sharing his passion for the outdoors and he finds time to recharge and disconnect by going camping multiple times a year. Colby lives with his wife and two daughters in Manhattan and loves all NY sports, especially the Rangers.
